Frequently
Asked Questions (v 1.18)
Q. How can I make a
second call without having to dial my ISP again?
A. Without hanging up
the phone after the first call, press the button on the Y@P
Jack once and the voice
will prompt you to continue your current session.
Q. If I acquire a new
Net2Phone account number (or a new ISP access
number, etc.), do I need
to reenter all of my information again?
A. No. All you need to
do is change that one piece of information.
Q. What do I do if I
need to dial a 9 before the ISP dialup number?
A. Enter the 9 when you
enter the ISP local access number in the configuration
menu. Enter 9 *, followed
by the phone number, followed by the pound sign “#”.
(The * acts as a pause
in the dialing.)
Q. How can I disable call
waiting?
A. To disable call
waiting, press the button on the Y@P Jack, press 5 for the
configuration menu, then
press 8 to get to the EXTENDED MENU. Next, press
25 on the phone keypad.
This will allow you to enter the call waiting disabling
code (usually this
number is "*70" [without the quotes]. This number may vary
depending where you
live). After you enter the code, activate the code by typing
in 26 on the
phone. A second method of disabling call waiting is to enter *70
prior to the ISP dialup
number.
Q. Once I enter the
phone number that I am dialing, hit the pound sign, and
hang up, it takes about
40 seconds until the unit rings me back.
A. This is completely
normal. The unit requires approximately 40 seconds to dial up
to the Internet,
establish the connection and then connect to the Net2Phone
servers. If it takes
more than 2 minutes to connect, odds are it will not connect at
all.
Q. Can I make calling
card calls (phone-to-phone) with my Y@P account
information (from the
back of my Y@P Time Card)?
A. Sure! Use your
account number and PIN to make long distance calls and
continue to rack up the
savings

Q. When I enter my
account number, the unit tells me that the account number
is invalid. What is
wrong?
A. There are two
possibilities. The most likely is that you entered it in incorrectly.
However, if you have an
older Net2Phone account number that is 12 digits, this
too will return the
error message. Contact Y@P technical support to obtain a
different account
number.
Q. After I enter my ISP
information (login and/or password) and I review what I
entered, some characters
were not saved.
A. When entering the ISP
login and/or password information, after each numeric
character that you
enter, you must hit the pound key (#) to make sure that the
character is saved. If
you have entered the character correctly, the voice prompt
will return "x
entered" (where x is the alphanumeric key that you entered).

the Y@P Jack.
A. The Y@P Jack will not
work with AOL as the Y@P Jack requires an ISP
that utilizes
Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP).
Q. My Y@P Jack has very
low audio. What might be the problem?
A. There are two things
that one should check if they are experiencing low audio on
the Y@P Jack. First and
foremost, check the volume on the phone. The second
possibility is that the
unit was damaged by putting the wall wire into the phone port
and vice versa. If this
is in fact the case the unit cannot be repaired.
Q. How do I dial a
number when I use my Y@P Jack?
A. After you press the
Y@P Jack button, simply press one (1) to dial another phone
and then enter the phone
number you wish to call.

receive a Y@P Jack to Y@P Jack call?
A. After you press the
Y@P Jack button, simply press 3 on the telephone keypad
and listen to the voice
prompts.
Q. What number do I call
when I want to call another Y@P Jack?
A. The account number on

another, you must dial

Q. Can I make regular
phone calls without disconnecting the Y@P Jack?
A. Yes, the Y@P Jack

Jack, but when I try to make a call, the phone only
